LASIK/SMILE selection: I was told I was an excellent candidate for either LASIK or SMILE, with corneas on the thicker ...I had my laser eye surgery roughly 12 years ago. The treatment variant I had was PRK - unlike more common LASIK where incision is made in the cornea to create a ‘flap’, and actual corrective laser work is covered by that flap, in PRK the laser treatment is done on the surface of the cornea.LASIK 15 months ago, all these complications, dry eye, horrible night vision, floaters, double vision in one eye trying to read anything within 10-20 yards and especially up close, and a blind spot in the top of my vision in same eye, lights have never looked the same, if I can even stand to look at them, everytnng glows in low light situations ... I had PRK (a Lasik-type surgery) with Rex Hamilton in Santa Monica. Another Lasik doctor I consulted with hinted I should go with Hamilton instead (since I had a higher prescription at -6.5, -2.25 astigmatism in eyeglasses), and yet another straight-out said it. Great CV, his optometrist is also a perfectionist, and free parking. My partner is also getting Lasik this year and we did a fair amount of research about it. The main thing I learnt is you don't want to cheap out. The surgery is very safe IF you do it with an experience professional. Unfortunately, Lasik accidents and complication are common.
